How to publish flash video on your website

FLV means Flash video, and today it's one of the most popular formats to play on web pages. Why is it so? There are plenty of reasons.

  1. Flash files have a small size at the optimal quality and so they play smoothly.
  2. Flash gives you an excellent control over the presentation of your video. If you own Adobe's Flash product, you can design your own player user interface.
  3. Flash works on MacOS X, Windows, and Linux and is supported in most popular Internet browsers - Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Opera. Though, in some cases to watch .flv files visitors need to install flv players which are easy to find in the Internet and often free of charge.

Is it hard to publish a FLV video file on your site? With VideoSuite 5 and detailed instructions - it's a job of just 10 minutes. VideoSuite 5 features conversion to the Flash format and you can quickly prepare for web streaming your recorded with digital cameras and camcorders movies.

Step1: Open Convert Video/DVD
In the Movavi VideoSuite main window, choose 'Convert Video/DVD' to launch the application.

Step2: Add Video or DVD
From the program screen, open the movie or DVD you want to transfer.

  • To add a DVD, click the DVD button.
  • To add a video file, click the Video button.

Step3: Choose a FLV format and preset
Click the Advanced tab and from the Output format drop-down menu, choose Flash (flv).

Your choice determines the quality of the streamed video. The higher quality you set, the bigger video file you get. To provide smooth playback for your friends, estimate what kind of connections most of them use. We recommend the "75% Quality (H.263; MP3 - 64Kbps)" preset for a comfortable viewing.

Click on the Advanced settings to change video parameters. Set the width and the height or adjust the quality of your video by moving the Image quality slider.

Step4: Click Convert

  • To save converted files choose the Output folder.
  • Press the Convert button.

Step5: Create a link for the Flash video on your site
To create a link, you'll need to insert some additional lines of HTML on your site. You can copy and paste the sample HTML text from here.

That's all there is to it. Your video is published on your webpage. Just click to play it.

It will look like the following. To watch the video, you may need to download and install a free latest version of Adobe Flash Player (1.3Mb).

Does anyone know how to keep

Does anyone know how to keep a flash video "behind" text? I tried using divs with a z-index of -1, but that didn't seem to do anything. I have a flash banner I use on my website with drop down menus above the banner, and when someone mouses over the menu, the dropdown goes behind the flash banner. It is so frustrating.

    Thanks for any help.
